Disney Cruise Fish Extender Gift Ideas

August 21, 2016 by barb

Here are some amazing fish extender ideas.

We are just back from a 7 day cruise on the Disney Fantasy where we participated in a Disney Cruise Fish Extender Exchange for the very first time. A Fish Extender Exchange gets its name from the fish themed hooks that are installed outside of each cabin on a Disney ship. People hang pockets from these hooks to exchange gifts very much like Secret Santa with one another. I am assuming if you are reading this post you have booked a cruise and just heard the term Fish Extender and want to know what it is, how to play along and if it is worth it. So, let's get to breaking down all this Disney Cruise Fish Extender information for you. How Do You Join a Fish Extender Exchange? The easiest way is to go to Facebook and join the group Disney Cruise Line Junkies. From there you should be able to find your cruise specific group. Mine was called Disney Fantasy August 13-20 2016 so you can search for yours which is likely in a similar format. Some people also search Disboards for this information. I liked Facebook. There can and will be many Fish Extender groups for every cruise. You ask to join a Fish Extender group  and when accepted you fill out some ...

DIY Lavender Oatmeal Soap: Melt and Pour Fun

August 8, 2016 by barb

This DIY lavender oatmeal soap is so simple to make and smells heavenly.

I hosted a Make and Take craft party at my home this weekend, inviting friends to create easy crafts while enjoying each other's company. One of the most popular projects was the DIY Lavender Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap that I designed. Here’s how to make it. DIY Lavender Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap This post contains affiliate links Melt 2 ounces of soap base in pyrex container on 50% power for 30 seconds in the microwave. Add remaining ingredients in the order above. Pour into silicone mold and let cool. Pop out when cool and hard.  The above makes one bar of soap so multiply as necessary to fill your molds. Some of the ladies at the party used Peppermint Essential Oil instead of Lavender and those came out lovely as well. Play with it. ...

How To Secure Your Stuff On Campus

July 31, 2016 by barb

How to secure your stuff on campus

I am sure that by now you have all the sheets, towels, shower curtains and supplies to successfully send your college student off to school. You have checked the school list and even read my list of list of must have college dorm room supplies. You've even read my advice on how to help your student transition to college but there is one thing we haven't talked about. Security and how to secure your stuff on campus. How to Secure Your Stuff (and YOU) on Campus *this post contains both affiliate links and sponsored content Creative Storage One thing that is important to remember is what is out of sight isn't an easy target. I love these little dorm ottomans that have storage in them. While they won't secure an item it does provide an easy place to drop your laptop or something similar in when you just want it out of sight. Plus it doubles as an extra seat and additional storage. If you are looking for something a bit more secure try a traditional foot locker. We found these were perfect for the break weeks (Fall, Christmas, Spring) to make sure things were put away with all the maintenance going on and just a few students staying. Bonus that it comes in cute colors and again ...

Mickey Mouse Hands With Finger Lights

July 15, 2016 by barb

These Mickey Mouse light up hands with finger lights are so easy to make. Perfect for Disney parties and Fish Extender gifts.

I am getting ready for an upcoming cruise on the Disney Fantasy. We are going to participate in a cool gift exchange program called Fish Extenders. The program is called a Fish Extender because each room on a Disney Cruise ship has a fish decoration outside the door. Someone decided it would make a great place to hang a bag and "secret Santa" type gift people. The idea caught on and Fish Extenders are now a Disney Cruise cult phenomena. People spend a lot of time, money and effort participating in the Fish Extender on their cruise and you can find adorable Fish Extender gift ideas all over Pinterest. I've been working hard on our entries into this fun game and I came up with these super cool Mickey Mouse hands with finger lights. This is how I made them.   Materials Needed: The following list and directions contains affiliate links. Step 1: Open up your Cricut Design Space app and create a two layered Mickey Mouse hand design using the black and white cardstock. The black should be the bottom layer. Set it to print 4 to a page and cut them out. Watch this quick video if you aren't sure how to set up your design. Step 2: Using the broad ...
