Ningxia Red Smoothie Recipe | Green Goodness with a Shot of Red

April 8, 2015 by barb

ningxia red smoothie recipe

I recently bought a Vitamix and have been happily blending up my entire kitchen (maybe a slight exaggeration). I came up with a green smoothie recipe using Ningxia Red that I love and feel good about sharing with you all! Don't know what Ningxia Red is yet? NingXia Red® is a powerful antioxidant drink that contains whole Ningxia wolfberry puree—a super blend of blueberry, aronia, cherry, pomegranate, and plum juices, natural stevia extract, grape seed extract, pure vanilla extract, and orange, yuzu, lemon, and tangerine essential oils. You can learn more about it here. Ningxia Red Smoothie Ingredients: 1 whole orange peeled 1 small banana peeled 1 small handful washed spinach leaves 1 1/2 rings fresh pineapple 1 scoop unflavored protein powder (optional) 1 tablespoon chia seeds 1 shot glass Ningxia Red 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt 1 1/2 cups ice Ningxia Red Smoothie Directions: Throw everything in a Vitamix. Turn the preset button to Smoothie and hit on. That's it. If you don't have a Vitamix you will have to adjust for however your blender works--and PS save up for one. SO worth it. This will make approximately 3 16 oz servings. Looking for a discount ...

Cinnamon Oil Granola: An Essential Kick of Goodness

January 21, 2015 by barb

cinnamon oil granola

We love homemade granola in this house. This last batch we decided to replace the cinnamon with cinnamon bark oil and it really kicked it up a notch! Cinnamon Oil Granola Ingredients 3 cups rolled oats 1/4 cup honey 1/8 cup canola oil 3 tbsp brown sugar pinch of salt 3/4 cup dried cherries 1/2 cup raw pecans, walnuts or almonds 2 drops Cinnamon bark oil ( OR click here to buy Young Living Essential Oils at a discount) 2 drop Nutmeg Oil Optional: 1 drop Clove essential oil Cinnamon Oil Granola Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients by hand except the essential oil in a large bowl until well coated. Spread evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in oven approximately 30 mins. Stir oats every ten minutes to make sure the granola is evenly browned. Once cool, place granola in 12 oz mason jars leaving about 1/2 inch headroom. Drop in your essential oils while stirring vigorously (to spread it around) on top of granola, seal jar, and shake rigorously. Let sit for at least 12 hours. Shake occasionally and enjoy! The amount of oil in this batch is low to give people a starting place. Feel free to add what ...

Wildtree Freezer Meal Workshop Tips & Tricks

June 30, 2014 by barb

Wildtree Kidtastic Freezer Meal Workshop product bundle sign

I was recently invited to a Wildtree Freezer Meal Workshop night by a friend of mine. It's sort of like the old time Tupperware parties but instead of coming home with a bunch of plastic containers your kids will use as sandbox toys, you come home with 10 family meals ready to go in the freezer. Since I am always looking to figure out how to keep us from dialing up taking out, I thought "sure, why not?". I called up the Wildtree rep and paid my $60 which was $10 off because I signed up with a friend. The rep, Laura, said more information would be on the way. A few days later I get a bright and sunny email with pre-party instructions and it was at that point I realized why I should have probably said "no way, Jose" instead of "sure, why not". But at this point I am $60 in and I figure it can't be all that bad. So, I printed my list and went off to Target of all places. I was tired and wasn't thinking. I spent $150 on meats and vegetables and ziplock bags and then came home to prep this stuff. I spent the afternoon cussing and cutting my chicken, pork, beef, shrimp and sausage. I diced 7 onions. I packed ziplocks with all the right meats and vegetables in numbered bags and then I ...

June 19, 2014 by barb

red white and blue spritzers ice cubes 4th of July Snack Idea

It's been a while since I've thrown a party and I am thinking that I may get one together this year for 4th of July. I love the red, white and blue themes and any chance to drink adult beverages with friends sounds like a good idea to me. I've been cruising through my Red, White and Blue Pinterest board  for 4th of July party ideas and I think I found some! I also came across these awesomely cute ideas in my inbox this morning from Family Fun. Sweet & Salty Sparklers - 4th of July Snack Idea Layered with white chocolate and studded with sprinkles and M&M’s, our pretzel treats add flare to any party spread. Cover a baking sheet with waxed paper. Melt 1 cup of white chocolate chips in a medium, heat-safe bowl according to the package directions. Use a spoon to drizzle 1pretzel rod at a time with chocolate (you’ll have enough chocolate to make a dozen), then lay the rod on the prepared sheet and scatter it with red and blue sprinkles and M&M’s. Chill the pretzels in the refrigerator until the chocolate sets, about 15 minutes. Red, White and Blue Saber Pops Feel the force of ice-cold refreshment—and keep hands unfrozen—with these felt cozies. For each, ...

Burger Bite Cookies | Easy & Fun Cookie Recipe

March 17, 2014 by barb

Love these really easy no bake burger bite cookies

Years ago my mother-in-law would send these adorable burger bite cookies to the kids. I was reminded of it the other day when talking to my sister-in-law and thought "I really should post how she does these" for my Real Moms of Pinterest people. It's a super easy recipe that makes Mom look like a rockstar with minimal effort. No actual baking necessary. This is all simple assembly work and a little melting. Ingredients for Burger Bite Cookies: 1 bag peppermint patties 1 box nilla wafers yellow and red squeezable cookie icing 1/2 cup shredded coconut 2 drops green food coloring sesame seeds Directions for Burger Bite Cookies: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lay half of the nilla wafers round side down on a cookie tray. Top each one with a peppermint patty. Place the shredded coconut in a ziploc bag with a few drops of the green food coloring and a few drops of water. Shake it up until the coconut reaches a shade of "lettuce" you like. You can add more food coloring if necessary. Melt the patties for about 90 seconds in the oven just until they are glossy. Take them immediately out of the oven and top them with your coconut lettuce. Use the yellow ...

A Bit About Me…

I truly love the wonderful chaos of motherhood, but as my kids grew, I started craving a different kind of pace and a sense of calm I couldn't quite find.

Moving to the coast, which is my happy place, really changed how I live the day to day. Now, I just try to bring more calm into our days, even though they're still pretty busy.

It's not about making life perfect. It's just finding some balance and little bits of peace in the middle of the happy hustle, letting the salt air work its magic on the chaos.

Knock, Knock! Anyone home?

I no longer participate in PR campaigns of any type. I consider this blog to be in retirement but here for anyone who would like to read. I started this journey in 1998 with a company I named “Chaotic Communications”. I am so happy to have lost that chaotic feeling. Today I have rebranded that life and work to simply “Indigo Ink“. You can click that link to find my latest projects.
