Confirmation That I Suck As A Superwoman

October 7, 2012 by barb

Barb Likos Pinterest

By now, most everyone knows about Pinterest. It's basically a virtual bulletin board of things you love, hate, aspire to, inspire you....really whatever you want to 'collect'. It's the same thing we all did as teenage girls, collected magazine pictures of bands, outfits and boys. Someone just figured out how to make it online and let you share it with the world. I'm not going to lie. I am kind of obsessed with it. I fall asleep most nights swooning over cupcakes I will never make, projects I will never do, and pictures I wish I had taken. It's addicting. And I am in awe that there are women (and men) out there that really do this stuff. I'm convinced pinterest is made up of two groups of people: my mother-in-law, the uber Martha Stewart Room Mom extraordinaire  and then people like me. You know, the mom that is actually asked to just buy some cupcakes at Costco instead of bake them at home. Pinterest has given me some awesome ideas that I am totally planning on doing. Like this surprise for my nasty mailman this winter... Source: smosh.com via Barb on Pinterest   Or the creepy cupcakes I could totally buy from Costco, mess up and stick doll parts in to ...

Today’s Happy. I Got’s a New Kitty

May 20, 2012 by barb

20120520-093545

Connor wants to name her Emma. Carter wants to name her Bellatrix. I like Bella. Bob wants to call her Pisshead (although a day later I have caught him snuggling with her already). Working title: Emma Belle She is a stray we adopted from Dumb Friends League yesterday. They were lovely and the shelter was beautiful. Miss Emma Belle has been sweet as pie to all the people in the house. She isn't so sure of Nala, Buddy, and Floyd. Think her and Floyd will have to make an 'understanding' soon. I think Emma Belle will win that discussion ...

Positive Clicking. Help A Charity Get a New Car

May 16, 2012 by barb

Toyota-100-Cars-for-Good-2

Yeah, I know. I said a new positive thing everyday in May and I already failed yesterday. I suck. Sort of. Cause I am going to make up for it by sharing an awesome thing you can do to help award 100 charities with brand new cars from Toyota. Watch this. It's only 90 seconds. Now, wasn't that worth 90 seconds of your time? Ready to give a charity another 90 seconds? Go over to 100 Cars For Good on Facebook and vote for one of the five charities profiled today and everyday through August 21st. The thing I love most about this promo? No one is a loser. Five nonprofit organizations will be profiled each day. Registered Facebook users will be able to vote once daily for the nonprofit they think can do the most good with a new vehicle. The organization with the most votes at the end of the day will win a new vehicle. The four runners-up will each receive a $1,000 cash grant from Toyota. That's right. Even if the charity doesn't get the car, they still get $1000! Please bookmark this to participate in each day. With the economy the way it is, charities need funds now more than ever. Let's encourage big companies to continue making a difference by giving them 90 seconds of ...

Let Us All be Thankful

May 14, 2012 by barb

When it rains, it pours. It's been pouring a lot lately in my life. But I don't want to concentrate on that. I want to concentrate on being grateful for the truly blessed life I do have. So each day for the rest of May I am going to post a small quote here that has made me think outside my bubble. Something maybe that will inspire you to think beyond your daily challenges. I just want to spread a little positive into our world. I hope something in the next month resonates with you! Please send me a note in the comments if it does :) Todays thought: “Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.” — Buddha Love, Barb ...

A Bit About Me…

I truly love the wonderful chaos of motherhood, but as my kids grew, I started craving a different kind of pace and a sense of calm I couldn't quite find.

Moving to the coast, which is my happy place, really changed how I live the day to day. Now, I just try to bring more calm into our days, even though they're still pretty busy.

It's not about making life perfect. It's just finding some balance and little bits of peace in the middle of the happy hustle, letting the salt air work its magic on the chaos.

Knock, Knock! Anyone home?

I no longer participate in PR campaigns of any type. I consider this blog to be in retirement but here for anyone who would like to read. I started this journey in 1998 with a company I named “Chaotic Communications”. I am so happy to have lost that chaotic feeling. Today I have rebranded that life and work to simply “Indigo Ink“. You can click that link to find my latest projects.
