I just sat down to tell you all about my crappy day and I coughed. It happened so fast I forgot to cover my mouth. I just coughed a loogie all over my computer screen. Not kidding! Maybe I shouldn’t have shared that….Last night as we were supposed to sit down to enjoy the turkey for the second attempt (the first was unsuccessful do to the bleeding turkey that greeted us out of the oven) we hear an ominous beep. Remember the $60,000 bed? It was beeping—-AGAIN—-for the fourth time in less than 2 weeks. And I do mean RIGHT when we were finally sitting down! When it beeps it shuts down and you have to call for service. I picked up the phone dreading that I would be ruining the sweet older gentleman who has to come out everytime I call no matter what the time or day. I didn’t have the heart to make him come out last night so Carter slept on the couch until the am.This morning out servicemen came. They were here for 5 hours. Essentially ruining any plans we had for the day but it was worth it if this bed was going to stop beeping. Off they finally went and we let the bed warm up. At 7 we got Carter all ready to go get back in the bed (now 24 hours out of it) and watch a movie. He gets in the bed and what happens? That, my dear friends, is what the sand that is supposed to be in the bed looks like as it leaks out slowly onto my floor. There are piles like this all around the bed.So Carter goes back to the couch and the poor serviceman is on his way back out to my house. He will be here around 9pm.I am NOT a happy person.

Oh. My. Goodness. Sounds like you’ve had quite a day. I hope you have a better day today. (And btw, I laughed (with you, not at you) about the loogie. My dh has a habit of not covering his mouth when he coughs or sneezes so I got quite the visual!)

Hi, do you still have the clinitron. I have been looking for one for a few weeks now. My brother and I could come pick it up. If you have it please call me.

My sister went 5 years at home bed ridden from strokes with no bed sores. She had hospital stays that left her with minor sores that I healed at home. One stay left her with a bad sore on her tailbone. While healing this wound her hips broke down that had undermining that was 7cm round. We had a clinitron at home sent out plus a wound vac. It took about 15 months to close the holes. I truly believe the bed helped a great deal. My sister was able to move any devices we used to rotated her position. She liked to in one spot on one side. No need with this bed. We had 3 occasions when the bed leaked that were handled within hours of my call for service. I put her old gel mattress over the bed when a storm caused a power outage.

My Clinitron gave me pretty good service for the past two years. Occasional issues, but the repair folks quickly fixed them. Lately, the bed has started having provlems the repair folks can’t seem to solve. First, I’m getting a lot of static shocks. Luckily I can’t feel them on my legs and back, but they do leave burns after a while. The really annoying issue is that the bed has started shutting down and alarming. Cycling the power usually solves the problem, but after a few days it’s back. It was so bad for a while that it wouldn’t clear. repair folks have replaced a lot of parts, but still haven’t got it solved.

I used a Clinitron bed on my daughter for 8 yrs……pretty much encountered every problem there was lol……our sand on the floor was due to an ill fitting strip that holds the cover in place…..we relieved the static and shocks by placing the bed in the center of a large rubber backed mat……as far as the bed shutting down and alarming if there were no bad parts we had the bed motors vacuumed and found sand deposits from previous malfunctions…..hope some of this helps……best wishes!

Husband is on Clinitron Bed and the beads are getting firm without turning off the bed for dressing changes. Orange light on constantly (heater?) He is totally bed bound right now because of a surgery in October. We own the stupid bed so have to jump thru hoops to get someone out here. It’s always approved and it’s a long workers comp story, but it still takes days to get them out to figure the problem with the bed. I lowered the firmness and temp but it’s an older bed we now own as we rented it so long we paid for it.. Those are the only controls available. Nothing spilled on bed to be drying out and so far mostly at foot of bed for the extra firmness. He has another full month flat in bed, then can start sitting up five minutes at a time several times a day for a month, then transfer to his wheelchair a little at a time putting pressure on the surgery. What could be causing the firmness and is there anything I can try? And not being allowed out of bed, do you have suggestions on what to do if we do have to call for help tomorrow? A surgery and months in bed will sure be nasty if the bed messes it all up after this time. Not the first time he has had to have this done. Not the first time beads have gone hard but not as hard as this. Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
