DIY Cleaning Wipes with Thieves Cleaner and Lemon Essential Oil are the perfect alternative to those expensive, chemical laden, store bought ones we all rely on for counter top and spill cleanups. These are so easy and inexpensive to make you will never revert back plus you can feel safe using them. They smell so much better than those bleach ones. Bonus: they don't leave your hands feeling dry and nasty! We use these on everything in the house, including my son's cpap mask! DIY Cleaning Wipes Materials: *list contains affiliate links  Omni-Wipe Container, or DIY Wipes Kit, or an empty wipes/baby wipes container. Roll of paper towels. This super simple lip scrub is a great Make and Take DIY beauty addition for smooth lips.

A few weeks ago I hosted a fabulous "Make and Take" Essential Oils party with some of my friends and we made up this super simple lip scrub for everyone to take home. Towards the end of Summer/beginning of Fall my lips are always a little dry and chapped. Enter this super simple, customizable lip scrub to help gently exfoliate the dry skin on my lips, making it easier to apply lip balms and the occasional lipstick smoothly. It's so easy that all of the 5 year old girls there made one for themselves!   DIY LIP SCRUB INGREDIENTS List contains affiliate links!  Sugar-Raw or Granulated-up to you. I personally like the Raw for better exfoliation. How To Organize Your Measuring Cups and Spoons : DIY Kitchen Organization Hack

June 4, 2017 by barb

how to organize your measuring cups and spoons

The past few months we have been doing a major kitchen over-haul and I love, love, love the way it is turning out. Combine the kitchen redo with my massive love-hate relationship with the KonMari method of organizing that I adopted last fall and I have been very busy. Yes, KonMari is the crazy method of basically throwing everything away that doesn't "spark joy".  It comes from the book the Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and let me tell you, the process is most definitely life changing. All of these things lead me to today's solution for how to organize your measuring cups and spoons. First, let me tell you what DIDN'T "spark joy" for me. THIS DRAWER: So when it was time to empty out and decide what to do with it I went back to my pinterest board of home ideas and was inspired by a measurement conversion chart created by the blogger at Infarrantly Creative. I tried to figure out how to organize your measuring cups and spoons with a much taller, skinnier pine cabinet door and this is what I came up with: The first thing I did was gather the supplies for my project: *This post contains Amazon Affiliate links Chalkboard Contact Paper red paint 3 paint ...

Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip Balm

January 24, 2017 by barb

peppermint mocha latte lip balm

I was needing a new flavor of lip balm when my friend Jillian started chatting on Facebook about how she was infusing her shea butter with coffee. What a great idea. Jillian's tastes are a little different than mine when it comes to lip balm ingredients though so I started playing around with how I could do this using my go-to ingredients and what I came up with is this amazing Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip Balm inspired by her original post. It tastes just like your local coffee shop with a lot less calories!   Ingredients for Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip Balm *this post contains affiliate links. 1 cup raw cocoa butter 4 tbsps organic course ground coffee (I used some my son had just brought back from Costa Rica :) ) 2 TBSP Fractionated Coconut Oil (this is the liquid kind) 1 heaping TBSP beeswax pellets (buying pellets is much easier than grating) Lip Balm containers - you can do tubes or tins (this recipe makes 5 1/2 ounce tins) Small crockpot for infusing Cheescloth for straining the coffee grounds Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil (get a GREAT deal on this and 10 other oils through the link) Directions for Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip ...

A Bit About Me…

I truly love the wonderful chaos of motherhood, but as my kids grew, I started craving a different kind of pace and a sense of calm I couldn't quite find.

Moving to the coast, which is my happy place, really changed how I live the day to day. Now, I just try to bring more calm into our days, even though they're still pretty busy.

It's not about making life perfect. It's just finding some balance and little bits of peace in the middle of the happy hustle, letting the salt air work its magic on the chaos.

Knock, Knock! Anyone home?

I no longer participate in PR campaigns of any type. I consider this blog to be in retirement but here for anyone who would like to read. I started this journey in 1998 with a company I named “Chaotic Communications”. I am so happy to have lost that chaotic feeling. Today I have rebranded that life and work to simply “Indigo Ink“. You can click that link to find my latest projects.
