PR Mondays: Blog Frog

February 1, 2010 by barb

Rustin Banks and Holly Hamann

Can you believe that it has been a whole month of PR Mondays already? In January we concentrated on getting your ways to get exposure to your blog and we have one more awesome article for you on that from Holly. I have been busy interviewing PR reps for major companies and for the rest of Feb I will share their thoughts directly with you. If you missed any of the Jan posts make sure to go back and get your blog ready!By Holly Hamann, 1.30.2010holly@theblogfrog.comWhat is BlogFrog and how did it all start?Every wonder how BlogFrog got its start?  I’m delighted to be guest blogging for Barb and I thought I’d share a little bit of background on what BlogFrog is and how it all got started.BlogFrog is the brainchild of Rustin Banks, who developed the beta product in 2008 during nights and weekends while still a full-time engineer at a local Aerospace company.  Banks said he got the idea from his wife, a casual blogger who used her blog to keep their friends and family updated.  There was no simple way for blog authors to have real discussions with readers and interact on their blogs. “A blog might have thousands of like-minded readers but what if I want to ask another reader a question ...

Product Reviews: How To Get Started

October 20, 2009 by barb

Product reviews are a natural fit with 'mommy bloggers'. With women connecting more and more online, it makes sense to get advice on which stroller to buy, which curriculum to choose, which detergent best gets out crayons, etc.. from your online friends. Through my company, I do a ton of product reviews and I am constantly being asked by moms just starting to blog how they 'get into' product reviews. This post is aimed at the new mom blogger looking to get their feet wet with product reviews. I have a few companies that you should get signed up with. The sign up process is free and depending on your blog audience, these may work out well for you. I personally work with the first two often and have met both their owners (and wonderful employees) in person. I can highly vouch for their companies and feel comfortable sending my closest friends over to them.Mom It Forward- Register and participate on the forum to be contacted about blogger outreach opportunities including blog tours, twitter parties, conference sponsorships and more.Mom Central- In the right hand sidebar there is a link to sign up for their mom testing panel. They are very organized and will send you emails with ...

My WordPress

July 2, 2009 by barb

wordpress

I am a busy mom so I am always looking for things to make my life more productive both online and off. Since lots of my friends are bloggers, I thought today I would share my favorite plug-ins for an installed wordpress blog to pass along what works well for me. I hope that you find a useful plug-in or two here and if you have one not listed, please leave me a comment. I am always looking for things to make my blogging life easier! So, first off, all four of my active blogs use the Studio Press Lifestyle Theme. I use Studio Press because of the ease of customization, excellent support and because they are both well coded and ahead of the curve.Because I use that theme, three of the blogs use the Featured Content Gallery plugin to make the scrolling pictures box at the top. On this blog, I replaced Featured Content with the Whrrl Widget so that as I take pictures from my iPhone, you see them. I also recoded this one to show my latest full post on the home page. So, what else do I think is blogorific? Add Graphical Signature-This one is old but still works well on my blogs. It is how I get the nifty little signature to show in each post. Comment Luv- Adds a line to each comment ...

A Bit About Me…

I truly love the wonderful chaos of motherhood, but as my kids grew, I started craving a different kind of pace and a sense of calm I couldn't quite find.

Moving to the coast, which is my happy place, really changed how I live the day to day. Now, I just try to bring more calm into our days, even though they're still pretty busy.

It's not about making life perfect. It's just finding some balance and little bits of peace in the middle of the happy hustle, letting the salt air work its magic on the chaos.

Knock, Knock! Anyone home?

I no longer participate in PR campaigns of any type. I consider this blog to be in retirement but here for anyone who would like to read. I started this journey in 1998 with a company I named “Chaotic Communications”. I am so happy to have lost that chaotic feeling. Today I have rebranded that life and work to simply “Indigo Ink“. You can click that link to find my latest projects.
