DIY Hand Soap With Essential Oils

February 24, 2016 by barb

This DIY hand soap with essential oils recipe is both simple and inexpensive to make.

Today I have for you one of the most simple projects on the planet: DIY HAND SOAP. Hand soap that isn't full of chemicals is pretty expensive in the stores. This can be made really inexpensively in a matter of minutes. Your hands will be softer, you will be saving money and you will feel better about what you have around your family! What you need for DIY Hand Soap: This list does contain affiliate links: Soap Jar- I love the Mason Jar ones I linked you to. I got the one above at IKEA for less than $5. Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap- I can often find this on sale at Target for about $10. I use Peppermint in this recipe. Thieves Essential Oil-click here for information on how to save money on essential oils. Distilled or boiled water--You just want to boil any little bacteria that might be in your tap water so this lasts longer. Let it cool before using. DIY Hand Soap Directions: Add water to your soap container filling it about 1/3 full. You must add the water first or it gets foamy. Fill the soap jar almost to the top with your castile soap. Add 12 drops of Thieves essential oil. Adjust depending on your jar size and preference. Screw on top and ...

DIY Peppermint Sugar Scrub

November 12, 2015 by barb

Love this DIY Peppermint Sugar Scrub recipe. Making this recipe for all my holiday gifts.

I love sugar scrubs but I hate paying $15 for them! And really? It is absolute nonsense to do so. They are SO easy to make. This DIY Peppermint Sugar Scrub will take you about 5 mins to mix up, uses just three main ingredients and is the PERFECT gift for the holidays! DIY Peppermint Sugar Scrub Ingredients: (contains affiliate links) 1 jar-I used a 4"Dia. x 4"H red clamp lid glass canister from Cost Plus World Market. The measuring spoons are adorable but certainly not essential. You can get them here. 2 cups RAW Sugar-I used the brand Sugar in the Raw 3/4 cup FRACTIONATED Coconut Oil-this is the kind stable in the liquid form. 20 drops Peppermint Essential Oil OR 1 tbsp Peppermint Extract. I personally think the essential oil produces a better product. DIY Peppermint Sugar Scrub Directions: Add sugar to jar Add oil to jar Add your Peppermint oil or extract to jar Stir well Seal and decorate jar. Add a ribbon and one of these adorable Christmas printable tags from my friend Jen Viola! I am guessing one of the most easy-peasy gifts you have ever made. Looking for more DIY Holiday Gift Ideas? DIY Candy Corn Soap

October 20, 2015 by barb

Love this DIY Candy Corn Soap project. Going to make it as a Halloween Craft for kids!

I'm all for anything that gets people washing their hands more this time of year! This DIY Candy Corn Soap is a lot of fun to make and it looks and smells great! I originally came up with the recipe with my niece and she loved it--so this is definitely mom tested, kid approved! The good news is that if you have made any of my other DIY soap projects, you probably have most of the items on hand to make this today.  If not, click on the Amazon (affiliate links) to get them ordered quickly. Here is what you will need: DIY Candy Corn Soap Ingredients Soap Colorant Olive Oil Soap Base Goats Milk Base silicone soap mold Young Living Essential Oils- for this I used a combination of Stress Away, Nutmeg and Cinnamon Bark (so that it had a Snickerdoodle scent) but you could do this just as easily with Thieves (like in this How To Make Soap For Kids tutorial) DIY Candy Corn Soap Instructions: You need to make this soap in 3 stages (for each of the colored layers) and plan time in between for each layer to cool. The actually time to make the project is about 25 minutes but add your drying time into that when planning. This recipe will yield two bars. Please ...

A Bit About Me…

I truly love the wonderful chaos of motherhood, but as my kids grew, I started craving a different kind of pace and a sense of calm I couldn't quite find.

Moving to the coast, which is my happy place, really changed how I live the day to day. Now, I just try to bring more calm into our days, even though they're still pretty busy.

It's not about making life perfect. It's just finding some balance and little bits of peace in the middle of the happy hustle, letting the salt air work its magic on the chaos.

Knock, Knock! Anyone home?

I no longer participate in PR campaigns of any type. I consider this blog to be in retirement but here for anyone who would like to read. I started this journey in 1998 with a company I named “Chaotic Communications”. I am so happy to have lost that chaotic feeling. Today I have rebranded that life and work to simply “Indigo Ink“. You can click that link to find my latest projects.
