If you are looking for a fun, unique step up from a typical lip balm this one may be just the right thing! Heart Shaped Lip Balm Ingredients: These are the actual products/brands I used and are affiliate links. 2 Screw Top Round Steel Tins, 1/2 oz size heart shaped mini cookie cutter-with this set you can make a heart and another shape at the same time. plastic pipette-much easier than glass but not the safest option. If you are experienced with transferring lip balms you should be OK using these but glass is safest (and a mess to clean). 1/8 c. coconut oil 1 tbsp beeswax pastilles 1/8 tsp. agave nectar 10 drops essential oil. I used Young Living's Orange (YUM). 1/8 tsp beet root powder (please, please, please read my notes on this) How to Make Heart Shaped Lip Balm: Wash your tins and cookie cutters in warm soapy water and set out to dry. You must make sure there is no moisture in them before using. I like to do this the night before. Melt the coconut oil and beeswax in a double boiler over very low heat. If you have not made lip balm before please read either of these recipes for better instructions with photos: Peppermint Lip Balm or ...
Panaway Whipped Body Butter
Old Man Winter is a jerk! The cold weather and the snow shoveling that comes with it makes my joints achy and stiff. I needed a way to warm up my bones this week and so I turned to one of my favorite essential oil blends, Panaway, for some help. According to the Young Living site "PanAway® was created by Gary Young following a severe injury to the ligaments in his leg. Containing wintergreen essential oil, which is often used for massage, PanAway is soothing to the skin while providing comforting warmth to muscles after exercise." I needed a way to really work it into my skin and so I decided to whip up one of these super quick and easy blog recipes for whipped body butter. Ha! What I discovered is that whipped body butter is not really quick or easy nor does it turn out like the pictures on pinterest. At least in my house. Maybe I did something very wrong but none of the recipes I tried worked out for me. They were all either too greasy or too hard. So I set out to come up with my Panaway DIY Recipe. I wasted a lot of ingredients and oils in the process but finally have something that works for me. Warning (or things I may have done that you shouldn't): Do NOT ...
DIY Carpet Freshener
It's been beautiful here. We've been able to open all the windows and air out the house. Which has my mind jumping to spring cleaning much too early. Yesterday I made this super easy essential oil recipe, DIY carpet freshener, sprinkled it on the carpet and let it sit about an hour before vacuuming it up. It took the stale, musty smell that builds up all winter right out of the carpet and the house smells clean and fresh. What You Need for DIY Carpet Freshener: 16 oz Mason Jar-you want glass if you are going to use any sort of citrus essential oil. Sprinkle top-these daisy lids pictured below are becoming very easy to find in Target, Walmart, Amazon (affiliate link) or Michael's but if you can't find one you can use aluminum foil with holes poked in it under the screw top. 16 oz Baking soda-you know I buy this in bulk for all the crafts I do right? Use left over to make fragrance stones. Essential oils-I used 10 drops Young Living Peppermint & 10 drops Grapefruit (this is a favorite combination of mine for cleaning). Really, you can use whatever oils you would like your home to smell like--Lavender, Lemon, Jade Lemon, Orange, Lime, Citrus Fresh and Purification ...

Cinnamon Oil Granola: An Essential Kick of Goodness
We love homemade granola in this house. This last batch we decided to replace the cinnamon with cinnamon bark oil and it really kicked it up a notch! Cinnamon Oil Granola Ingredients 3 cups rolled oats 1/4 cup honey 1/8 cup canola oil 3 tbsp brown sugar pinch of salt 3/4 cup dried cherries 1/2 cup raw pecans, walnuts or almonds 2 drops Cinnamon bark oil ( OR click here to buy Young Living Essential Oils at a discount) 2 drop Nutmeg Oil Optional: 1 drop Clove essential oil Cinnamon Oil Granola Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients by hand except the essential oil in a large bowl until well coated. Spread evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in oven approximately 30 mins. Stir oats every ten minutes to make sure the granola is evenly browned. Once cool, place granola in 12 oz mason jars leaving about 1/2 inch headroom. Drop in your essential oils while stirring vigorously (to spread it around) on top of granola, seal jar, and shake rigorously. Let sit for at least 12 hours. Shake occasionally and enjoy! The amount of oil in this batch is low to give people a starting place. Feel free to add what ...
