Organize Measuring Cups & Spoons: Kitchen Organization Ideas

June 4, 2017 by barb

Incorporating effective Kitchen Organization Ideas can make a significant difference in your space.

Incorporating effective Kitchen Organization Ideas can make a significant difference in your space. Over the past few months, I’ve been undergoing a significant renovation in the kitchen, and I absolutely adore how it’s coming together. Alongside this kitchen transformation, I've also been navigating my complicated love-hate relationship with the KonMari organizing method I started using last fall, which has kept me quite occupied. For those unfamiliar, KonMari is the unconventional approach of discarding anything that doesn’t spark joy, derived from the book *The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up*. I can attest that the experience is truly transformative. All of this brings me to today’s tip on how to organize your measuring cups and spoons. Incorporating effective Kitchen Organization Ideas can make a significant difference in your space. First, let me tell you what DIDN'T "spark joy" for me. THIS DRAWER: So when it was time to empty out and decide what to do with it I went back to my Pinterest board: Clever Ideas, Life Hacks & Everyday Solutions for inspiration. The first thing I did was gather the supplies for my project: *This post contains Amazon ...

Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip Balm

January 24, 2017 by barb

peppermint mocha latte lip balm

I was needing a new flavor of lip balm when my friend Jillian started chatting on Facebook about how she was infusing her shea butter with coffee. What a great idea. Jillian's tastes are a little different than mine when it comes to lip balm ingredients though so I started playing around with how I could do this using my go-to ingredients and what I came up with is this amazing Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip Balm inspired by her original post. It tastes just like your local coffee shop with a lot less calories!   Ingredients for Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip Balm *this post contains affiliate links. 1 cup raw cocoa butter 4 tbsps organic course ground coffee (I used some my son had just brought back from Costa Rica :) ) 2 TBSP Fractionated Coconut Oil (this is the liquid kind) 1 heaping TBSP beeswax pellets (buying pellets is much easier than grating) Lip Balm containers - you can do tubes or tins (this recipe makes 5 1/2 ounce tins) Small crockpot for infusing Cheescloth for straining the coffee grounds Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil (get a GREAT deal on this and 10 other oils through the link) Directions for Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip ...

Disney Cruise Door Decoration Ideas

January 13, 2017 by barb

Need some Disney Cruise Door Decorations? Here is where to buy them or make them

More than on any other cruise line, Disney Cruisers LOVE to decorate their doors. It's a real part of the Disney Cruise planning process and people go all out. Are you getting ready for your first Disney Cruise? These Disney Cruise door decoration ideas will have you sailing in style in no time. *this post contains affiliate links All of the below photos were taken in November of 2016 on a Disney Merrytime Cruise on the Wonder so that is why you will see holiday themed doors mixed in. There are several ways people make these decorations. Most often people use their Cricut  or Silhoutte Machines and follow patterns similar to the ones found in this thread on Disboards. They laminate them and then use heavy duty magnets to make them stick to the door. Per Disney rules, "You are welcome to place magnetic signs on your stateroom door. Though, please note that Concierge staterooms on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy have wooden doors. You may not affix items to your stateroom doors using tape or any adhesive, including removable gel adhesives, as this can damage the doors’ finish." There are fines for damaging the doors. The second most common way, and what I did to save ...

DIY Lavender Oatmeal Soap: Melt and Pour Fun

August 8, 2016 by barb

This DIY lavender oatmeal soap is so simple to make and smells heavenly.

I hosted a Make and Take craft party at my home this weekend, inviting friends to create easy crafts while enjoying each other's company. One of the most popular projects was the DIY Lavender Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap that I designed. Here’s how to make it. DIY Lavender Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap This post contains affiliate links Melt 2 ounces of soap base in pyrex container on 50% power for 30 seconds in the microwave. Add remaining ingredients in the order above. Pour into silicone mold and let cool. Pop out when cool and hard.  The above makes one bar of soap so multiply as necessary to fill your molds. Some of the ladies at the party used Peppermint Essential Oil instead of Lavender and those came out lovely as well. Play with it. ...

Mickey Mouse Hands With Finger Lights

July 15, 2016 by barb

These Mickey Mouse light up hands with finger lights are so easy to make. Perfect for Disney parties and Fish Extender gifts.

I am getting ready for an upcoming cruise on the Disney Fantasy. We are going to participate in a cool gift exchange program called Fish Extenders. The program is called a Fish Extender because each room on a Disney Cruise ship has a fish decoration outside the door. Someone decided it would make a great place to hang a bag and "secret Santa" type gift people. The idea caught on and Fish Extenders are now a Disney Cruise cult phenomena. People spend a lot of time, money and effort participating in the Fish Extender on their cruise and you can find adorable Fish Extender gift ideas all over Pinterest. I've been working hard on our entries into this fun game and I came up with these super cool Mickey Mouse hands with finger lights. This is how I made them.   Materials Needed: The following list and directions contains affiliate links. Step 1: Open up your Cricut Design Space app and create a two layered Mickey Mouse hand design using the black and white cardstock. The black should be the bottom layer. Set it to print 4 to a page and cut them out. Watch this quick video if you aren't sure how to set up your design. Step 2: Using the broad ...
