The past few months we have been doing a major kitchen over-haul and I love, love, love the way it is turning out. Combine the kitchen redo with my massive love-hate relationship with the KonMari method of organizing that I adopted last fall and I have been very busy. Yes, KonMari is the crazy method of basically throwing everything away that doesn't "spark joy". It comes from the book the Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and let me tell you, the process is most definitely life changing. All of these things lead me to today's solution for how to organize your measuring cups and spoons.First, let me tell you what DIDN'T "spark joy" for me. THIS DRAWER:So when it was time to empty out and decide what to do with it I went back to my pinterest board of home ideas and was inspired by a measurement conversion chart created by the blogger at Infarrantly Creative. I tried to figure out how to organize your measuring cups and spoons with a much taller, skinnier pine cabinet door and this is what I came up with:The first thing I did was gather the supplies for my project: *This post contains Amazon Affiliate linksChalkboard Contact Paper red paint 3 paint ...
Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip Balm
I was needing a new flavor of lip balm when my friend Jillian started chatting on Facebook about how she was infusing her shea butter with coffee. What a great idea. Jillian's tastes are a little different than mine when it comes to lip balm ingredients though so I started playing around with how I could do this using my go-to ingredients and what I came up with is this amazing Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip Balm inspired by her original post. It tastes just like your local coffee shop with a lot less calories! Disney Cruise Door Decoration Ideas
More than on any other cruise line, Disney Cruisers LOVE to decorate their doors. It's a real part of the Disney Cruise planning process and people go all out. Are you getting ready for your first Disney Cruise? These Disney Cruise door decoration ideas will have you sailing in style in no time.*this post contains affiliate linksAll of the below photos were taken in November of 2016 on a Disney Merrytime Cruise on the Wonder so that is why you will see holiday themed doors mixed in. There are several ways people make these decorations. Most often people use their Cricut or Silhoutte Machines and follow patterns similar to the ones found in this thread on Disboards. They laminate them and then use heavy duty magnets to make them stick to the door. Per Disney rules, "You are welcome to place magnetic signs on your stateroom door. Though, please note that Concierge staterooms on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy have wooden doors. You may not affix items to your stateroom doors using tape or any adhesive, including removable gel adhesives, as this can damage the doors’ finish." There are fines for damaging the doors. The second most common way, and what I did to save ...
DIY Lavender Oatmeal Soap
This weekend I had a Make and Take craft party at my house. That is where you have friends over and make simple crafts and have a good time. This DIY Lavender Oatmeal Soap was one of the crafts I came up with that was a huge hit. Here is how it is done.DIY Lavender Oatmeal Soap This post contains affiliate links1 Square Silicone Mold 2-1 ounce pre-cut goats milk soap base or here is one not pre-scored but with less chemicals. 2 tsp oatmeal (I used Bob's Red Mill Rolled Oats) 1 tsp lavender buds (you will have a lot left over if you buy this 1 lb bag. It seemed like the best deal to me) 5-8 drops Lavender Essential Oil (Buy your Young Living Premium Starter Kit from me and save $25)Melt 2 ounces of soap base in pyrex container on 50% power for 30 seconds in the microwave. Add remaining ingredients in the order above. Pour into silicone mold and let cool. Pop out when cool and hard. The above makes one bar of soap so multiply as necessary to fill your molds. Some of the ladies at the party used Peppermint Essential Oil instead of Lavender and those came out lovely as well. Play with it. ...
Mickey Mouse Hands With Finger Lights
I am getting ready for an upcoming cruise on the Disney Fantasy. We are going to participate in a cool gift exchange program called Fish Extenders. The program is called a Fish Extender because each room on a Disney Cruise ship has a fish decoration outside the door. Someone decided it would make a great place to hang a bag and "secret Santa" type gift people. The idea caught on and Fish Extenders are now a Disney Cruise cult phenomena. People spend a lot of time, money and effort participating in the Fish Extender on their cruise and you can find adorable Fish Extender gift ideas all over Pinterest. I've been working hard on our entries into this fun game and I came up with these super cool Mickey Mouse hands with finger lights. This is how I made them.
