Old Man Winter is a jerk! The cold weather and the snow shoveling that comes with it makes my joints achy and stiff. I needed a way to warm up my bones this week and so I turned to one of my favorite essential oil blends, Panaway, for some help. According to the Young Living site "PanAway® was created by Gary Young following a severe injury to the ligaments in his leg. Containing wintergreen essential oil, which is often used for massage, PanAway is soothing to the skin while providing comforting warmth to muscles after exercise." I needed a way to really work it into my skin and so I decided to whip up one of these super quick and easy blog recipes for whipped body butter. Ha!What I discovered is that whipped body butter is not really quick or easy nor does it turn out like the pictures on pinterest. At least in my house. Maybe I did something very wrong but none of the recipes I tried worked out for me. They were all either too greasy or too hard.So I set out to come up with my Panaway DIY Recipe. I wasted a lot of ingredients and oils in the process but finally have something that works for me.Warning (or things I may have done that you shouldn't):Do NOT ...
DIY Carpet Freshener
It's been beautiful here. We've been able to open all the windows and air out the house. Which has my mind jumping to spring cleaning much too early. Yesterday I made this super easy essential oil recipe, DIY carpet freshener, sprinkled it on the carpet and let it sit about an hour before vacuuming it up. It took the stale, musty smell that builds up all winter right out of the carpet and the house smells clean and fresh. What You Need for DIY Carpet Freshener:16 oz Mason Jar-you want glass if you are going to use any sort of citrus essential oil. Sprinkle top-these daisy lids pictured below are becoming very easy to find in Target, Walmart, Amazon (affiliate link) or Michael's but if you can't find one you can use aluminum foil with holes poked in it under the screw top. 16 oz Baking soda-you know I buy this in bulk for all the crafts I do right? Use left over to make fragrance stones. Essential oils-I used 10 drops Young Living Peppermint & 10 drops Grapefruit (this is a favorite combination of mine for cleaning). Really, you can use whatever oils you would like your home to smell like--Lavender, Lemon, Jade Lemon, Orange, Lime, Citrus Fresh and Purification ...

Stir oats every ten minutes to make sure the granola is evenly browned. Once cool, place granola in 12 oz mason jars leaving about 1/2 inch headroom. Drop in your essential oils while stirring vigorously (to spread it around) on top of granola, seal jar, and shake rigorously. Let sit for at least 12 hours. Shake occasionally and enjoy! The amount of oil in this batch is low to give people a starting place. Feel free to add what ...
DIY Reed Diffuser With Essential Oils
This is a simple and easy DIY craft to help diffuse the smell of essential oils in your home. This DIY Reed Diffuser is the perfect fix for those rooms that don't have a home diffuser machine and can help you replace commercial sprays or toxic candles. You will need:Rattan Reeds- I bought the ones in this picture at IKEA. Because they are painted they tend to tint liquid they sit in. Ones like these from Amazon will not tint the water. Fractionated Coconut Oil- 1/4 cup Unflavored Vodka- 1 tsp. You can totally use the cheap stuff. It helps the mixture travel up the reeds. Jar with a narrow opening- I bought this one at IKEA as well. Essential Oils-as always I only use Young Living. You can get a discount on Young Living Oils here. You will need 20 drops and you can do a combination of two or just a single fragrance like Lavender for the bedroom. I have some combination ideas below.Mix the fractionated coconut oil, vodka and essential oils in the jar. Arrange your reeds. Flip the reeds after a few hours to help the fragrance travel up the reeds. Then flip them every few days to renew the scent. DIY Reed Diffuser Essential Oil Combinations to try: ...
