Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip Balm

January 24, 2017 by barb

peppermint mocha latte lip balm

I was needing a new flavor of lip balm when my friend Jillian started chatting on Facebook about how she was infusing her shea butter with coffee. What a great idea. Jillian's tastes are a little different than mine when it comes to lip balm ingredients though so I started playing around with how I could do this using my go-to ingredients and what I came up with is this amazing Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip Balm inspired by her original post. It tastes just like your local coffee shop with a lot less calories!   Ingredients for Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip Balm *this post contains affiliate links. 1 cup raw cocoa butter 4 tbsps organic course ground coffee (I used some my son had just brought back from Costa Rica :) ) 2 TBSP Fractionated Coconut Oil (this is the liquid kind) 1 heaping TBSP beeswax pellets (buying pellets is much easier than grating) Lip Balm containers - you can do tubes or tins (this recipe makes 5 1/2 ounce tins) Small crockpot for infusing Cheescloth for straining the coffee grounds Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil (get a GREAT deal on this and 10 other oils through the link) Directions for Peppermint Mocha Latte Lip ...

DIY Summer Lip Balm: Spearmint Vanilla Lime

June 3, 2015 by barb

Love this super fun and easy diy summer lip balm using Spearmint and Lime essential oils. Yum!

Summer is off to a great start and we needed some new DIY summer lip balm flavors to help us enjoy the season. I had a lot of fun asking for suggestions on my Facebook page, Crafty Side of Essential Oils, and came up with this Spearmint Vanilla Lime lip balm mixture. DIY Summer Lip Balm Ingredients: (contains affiliate links) 1/4 cup refined coconut oil 2 tbsp & 2 tsps beeswax pastilles or grated beeswax 10 drops Lime Essential Oil (Get a discount on Young Living Premium Starter Kit) 8 drops Spearmint Essential Oil 5 drops organic Vanilla extract-optional 14 lip balm tubes 1 pipette (glass is safest but hard to clean, long plastic are easier to just throw away but get very hot) washi tape, duct tape or scotch packing tape for decorating DIY Summer Lip Balm Directions: Line up all your empty lip balm tubes in a safe place next to where you will be making this. DIY Heart Shaped Lip Balm Tutorial

March 26, 2015 by barb

heart shaped lip balm

If you are looking for a fun, unique step up from a typical lip balm this one may be just the right thing! Heart Shaped Lip Balm Ingredients: These are the actual products/brands I used and are affiliate links. 2 Screw Top Round Steel Tins, 1/2 oz size heart shaped mini cookie cutter-with this set you can make a heart and another shape at the same time. plastic pipette-much easier than glass but not the safest option. If you are experienced with transferring lip balms you should be OK using these but glass is safest (and a mess to clean). 1/8 c. coconut oil 1 tbsp beeswax pastilles 1/8 tsp. agave nectar 10 drops essential oil. I used Young Living's Orange (YUM). 1/8 tsp beet root powder (please, please, please read my notes on this) How to Make Heart Shaped Lip Balm: Wash your tins and cookie cutters in warm soapy water and set out to dry. You must make sure there is no moisture in them before using. I like to do this the night before. Melt the coconut oil and beeswax in a double boiler over very low heat. If you have not made lip balm before please read either of these recipes for better instructions with photos: Peppermint Lip Balm or ...

Simple, Small Batch Peppermint Lip Balm Recipe | Christmas Crafts

November 5, 2014 by barb

This small batch peppermint lip balm is one of my favorite Christmas crafts. But all I would have to do is change out the washi tape and it would probably be one of my all season favorite diy crafts.

Looking for an easy, DIY stocking stuffer? Try this simple, small batch peppermint lip balm that you can do in less than an hour and make a whole classroom full if you needed to! This peppermint lip balm recipe makes 14 full tubes so multiply it out as necessary if making for a large crowd. It has a few more ingredients than my lavender orange lip balm but is still an easy, inexpensive DIY craft using essential oil. How to Make Peppermint Lip Balm: Gather the following supplies in your work area. This moves very quickly so you need everything at your fingertips. Coconut Oil Beeswax 1 Vitamin E capsule Agave or Honey 14 Lip Balm Tubes Pipette- Buy glass or use a larger plastic one. Young Living Peppermint Oil - get a discount on Young Living oils here. Scotch Expressions Packing Tape (shown above) or Washi Tape Melt 1/4 cup Coconut Oil and 2 TBSP plus 1 TSP of the beeswax pellets together over very low heat. Remove from heat. A Bit About Me…

I truly love the wonderful chaos of motherhood, but as my kids grew, I started craving a different kind of pace and a sense of calm I couldn't quite find.

Moving to the coast, which is my happy place, really changed how I live the day to day. Now, I just try to bring more calm into our days, even though they're still pretty busy.

It's not about making life perfect. It's just finding some balance and little bits of peace in the middle of the happy hustle, letting the salt air work its magic on the chaos.

Knock, Knock! Anyone home?

I no longer participate in PR campaigns of any type. I consider this blog to be in retirement but here for anyone who would like to read. I started this journey in 1998 with a company I named “Chaotic Communications”. I am so happy to have lost that chaotic feeling. Today I have rebranded that life and work to simply “Indigo Ink“.
