Pumpkin Spice Lip Balm

September 6, 2015 by barb

This pumpkin spice lip balm recipe is an easy fall craft project. The small batch recipe is a perfect DIY using cinnamon, nutmeg and clove essential oils.

#PumpkinSpiceEverything Fever has hit but to be honest I would rather this Pumpkin Spice Lip Balm hit my lips. It's all natural, leaves my lips smooth and glossy and has a cool tingling (slightly plumping) effect that I am addicted to....best yet? Almost zero calories. Beat that Starbucks. Pumpkin Spice Lip Balm Ingredients This list contains affiliate links 3 tsp beeswax pastilles 2 tsp coconut oil 1 tsp cocoa butter-I eyed a chunk that fit just about right in the tsp 2 tsp pumpkin seed oil 4 drops Cinnamon Bark essential oil  (click here to get a Young Living Discount) 2 drops Clove Essential Oil 2 drops Nutmeg Essential Oil 6 lip balm tubes Pippette (glass or long plastic-I personally prefer the plastic because the glass is hard to clean but the glass is safest) Pumpkin Spice Lip Balm Directions If you have NEVER made lip balm before please read through a few lip balm tutorials to become familiar with the process. Melt the following in a double boiler. For this project I made a double boiler effect by setting a Pyrex measuring cup in a saucepan filled with a few inches of slowly boiling water. beeswax coconut oil cocoa butter pumpkin ...

Simple DIY Citrus Soap

July 6, 2015 by barb

DIY Citrus Soap FB

I love soap. I have a real thing for pretty, beautiful smelling bars of soap. I also hate lye and stay as far away from it as I can. If you are the same way, you will LOVE this DIY Citrus Soap recipe. It's so easy that a monkey with microwave could do it! DIY Citrus Soap Prep: Here are some things you should do a few days before planning to make (Amazon Affiliate Links below) Order Goats Milk Base in cubes Order silicone soap mold (look around for cute shapes if you want) Grate 1/2 cup citrus peel. I used lime, grapefruit, orange and lemon. I found that zesting did not give me big enough chunks to make the soap look pretty. Leave on a cookie tray lined with parchment to air dry for 1-2 days. DIY Citrus Soap Ingredients: 14 cubes of Goats Milk Base (link above) 5 drops of Citrus Fresh Essential Oil (you can buy Young Living oils here) 1/2 cup dried, grated citrus peels DIY Citrus Soap Directions: Place cubes in glass bowl. I use a Pyrex measuring bowl. Melt in microwave for 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds. Once fully melted, stir in grated citrus peels and add 5 drops (do more or less depending on how strong you want it-5 gives it a light ...

How To Make a DIY Glass Spray Bottle

June 17, 2015 by barb

DIY glass spray bottle

Have you heard that when using citrus essential oils in any recipe (like Bug Off - Extra Tough) that you need to use a glass spray bottle instead of plastic? It's true. Citrus essential oils leach chemicals out of plastic! If you already knew this you may have gone searching on Amazon or your local store for a glass spray bottle only to find that they are kinda crazy expensive! Stop the madness and make your own DIY glass spray bottle with what you have in the house. How To Make a DIY Glass Spray Bottle Clean any glass bottle that originally contained a natural ingredient (white vinegar, Bragg's vinegar, Perrier) with a narrow screw top opening and clean and dry it thoroughly. KEEP CAP! Fit with a clean and dry plastic spray trigger. The bottles above fit spray triggers I had in the house from other cleaners/projects. If you don't have any you can (affiliate link) buy spray triggers from Amazon here. Do NOT store the plastic trigger spray in the bottle. Cap it off with the original lid so that your spray trigger is not sitting in essential oil mixture leaching chemicals for long periods of time. Remove the original label with a little bit of Lemon Essential Oil (Young ...

Easiest Way to Remove Jamberry Nails

June 15, 2015 by barb

Love doing your nails with Jamberry but having a hard time getting those gorgeous nail designs off? This super easy method to remove nail art really surprised me.

I love Jamberry Nail stickers. I don't sell them or anything....they are just a ton of fun to use as accents to a manicure or pedicure. I usually wear them over gel nails and they honestly only last maybe 5 days on me this way so I needed to  figure out the easiest way to remove Jamberry nails without ruining my manicure underneath. This also works just as well on natural nails. Easiest Way to Remove Jamberry Nails-Step 1: Take an orange stick and gently lift the sticker around the outer edges...its usually peeling up there for me anyway when I am ready to remove. Easiest Way to Remove Jamberry Nails-Step 2: Drop a very small amount (like half a drop) of Lemon Oil under the lifted area. Lemon Oil comes in the Young Living Premium Starter Kit which is a great value (hint: I also have a coupon code there to save you $25). Easiest Way to Remove Jamberry Nails-Step 3: Let the oil sit about 30 seconds on the nail. Slide nail off and rub with a paper towel to remove any excess oil and adhesive residue. Voila! That's it. No damage. Super quick and easy way to remove those cute little nails! Disclosure: I don't sell Jamberry but I linked you to the person who ...

A Bit About Me…

I truly love the wonderful chaos of motherhood, but as my kids grew, I started craving a different kind of pace and a sense of calm I couldn't quite find.

Moving to the coast, which is my happy place, really changed how I live the day to day. Now, I just try to bring more calm into our days, even though they're still pretty busy.

It's not about making life perfect. It's just finding some balance and little bits of peace in the middle of the happy hustle, letting the salt air work its magic on the chaos.

Knock, Knock! Anyone home?

I no longer participate in PR campaigns of any type. I consider this blog to be in retirement but here for anyone who would like to read. I started this journey in 1998 with a company I named “Chaotic Communications”. I am so happy to have lost that chaotic feeling. Today I have rebranded that life and work to simply “Indigo Ink“. You can click that link to find my latest projects.
