Holiday Diffuser Blends | Essential Oils

December 3, 2014 by barb

peppermint surprise diffuser recipe

I've been super busy this week getting holiday crafts done. I can't wait to share some of the things I have been working on. These holiday diffuser blends have really been keeping me going over the last few days. Don't know what a diffuser is? Think part humidifier, air purifier, atomizer, and aromatherapy diffuser into one product about the size of a kleenex box (maybe a little bit bigger). You fill it with a small amount of water and some drops of essential oil. The diffuser's ultrasonic technology breaks any mixture of essential oils and water into millions of microparticles, disperses them into the air, and eliminates odors, create a relaxing atmosphere, and gives you the therapeutic benefit of the oils.....best image if you have no frame of reference for what I am describing? When your mom would put vapo rub in your humidifier as a kid :) Ah, good memories. Here is a great deal on the diffuser and oils if you are looking. Winter Chai: Holiday Diffuser Blend Relaxing. Like a cup of chai dispersed throughout the house. Peppermint Surprise: Holiday Diffuser Blend This one is my favorite. It smells like candy canes and gives me tons of energy to get through my ...

Christmas Gifts for the College Crowd

November 26, 2014 by barb

Gordmans December 2014 coupon

Looking for the right Christmas gifts for the college crowd? I was too. Turns out they have plenty of wants and needs and no money to get them! What a perfect time to spoil someone. Here is a list of things that are perfect. Gift Cards: It seems impersonal I know but it REALLY isn't. Kids who don't have a car on campus will love giftcards to stores and restaurants within walking distance. Google a map of their campus and zoom out a bit. The map will show you what they have right around them. You can then go to places like your grocery store that likely sell 100's of different store giftcards or an online dealer that will have a wider variety. Even if you can't find a place close to their campus, they will love one to stores at home. One place we like to give giftcards too is Gordmans. They have a great selection of cool posters, sheets, and even new clothes (my sons LOVE their dri-fit collection). It's about time that a new something in the room or closet would be a welcome pick me up! There is a great coupon to attach to the giftcard at the bottom of this post. Headphones: Headphones are one of those things that college kids tend to go through a lot. They have their ...

Wool Dryer Balls With Essential Oils | DIY Laundry

November 13, 2014 by barb

Wool dryer balls with essential oils are a great alternative to chemical filled dryer sheets.

Are you ready to ditch the dryer sheets? All you need is a set of wool dryer balls with essential oils. Wool dryer balls are 100% natural replacement for chemical filled dryer sheets. They work by bouncing around in the dryer, reducing static cling and literally softly "beating" your clothes. The balls shorten drying time by wicking moisture away from your clothes and they can last for years. Adding essential oils gently scents your clothes and adds one more way to get the therapeutic benefit of oils into your life. If you are trying to reduce the chemicals and toxins in your house this is one with a lot of bang for your buck since clothes, sheets and towels touch everyone in your family all day long. There are two ways to get your wool dryer balls, buy them or make them. Many people even use an old wool sweater around the house to make the balls making this even more cost efficient. I have heard though from people that have made them that it just wasn't worth the time and effort when you can buy them so inexpensively. Where to Buy Wool Dryer Balls: Amazon. Here is an affiliate link to the ones I bought. Etsy. No affiliate, just making your life easier. How to ...

Simple, Small Batch Peppermint Lip Balm Recipe | Christmas Crafts

November 5, 2014 by barb

This small batch peppermint lip balm is one of my favorite Christmas crafts. But all I would have to do is change out the washi tape and it would probably be one of my all season favorite diy crafts.

Looking for an easy, DIY stocking stuffer? Try this simple, small batch peppermint lip balm that you can do in less than an hour and make a whole classroom full if you needed to! This peppermint lip balm recipe makes 14 full tubes so multiply it out as necessary if making for a large crowd. It has a few more ingredients than my lavender orange lip balm but is still an easy, inexpensive DIY craft using essential oil. How to Make Peppermint Lip Balm: Gather the following supplies in your work area. This moves very quickly so you need everything at your fingertips. Coconut Oil Beeswax 1 Vitamin E capsule Agave or Honey 14 Lip Balm Tubes Pipette- Buy glass or use a larger plastic one. Young Living Peppermint Oil - get a discount on Young Living oils here. Scotch Expressions Packing Tape (shown above) or Washi Tape Melt 1/4 cup Coconut Oil and 2 TBSP plus 1 TSP of the beeswax pellets together over very low heat. Remove from heat. Stir in 15-20 drops of Peppermint depending on how strong you want it. Personally I think 18 is perfect. Poke a hole in the Vitamin E tablet and squeeze contents into mixture. Add 1/4 teaspoon honey or agave nectar. This ...

A Bit About Me…

I truly love the wonderful chaos of motherhood, but as my kids grew, I started craving a different kind of pace and a sense of calm I couldn't quite find.

Moving to the coast, which is my happy place, really changed how I live the day to day. Now, I just try to bring more calm into our days, even though they're still pretty busy.

It's not about making life perfect. It's just finding some balance and little bits of peace in the middle of the happy hustle, letting the salt air work its magic on the chaos.

Knock, Knock! Anyone home?

I no longer participate in PR campaigns of any type. I consider this blog to be in retirement but here for anyone who would like to read. I started this journey in 1998 with a company I named “Chaotic Communications”. I am so happy to have lost that chaotic feeling. Today I have rebranded that life and work to simply “Indigo Ink“. You can click that link to find my latest projects.
