Peppermint Bark Snowflakes

December 7, 2014 by barb

peppermint bark snowflakes

Last year I made some Chocolate Peppermint Bark Snowflakes for our Christmas Cookie Exchange. They were a big hit and I decided to re-make the recipe this year to replace the peppermint extract with peppermint essential oils. Peppermint Bark Snowflakes Recipe (makes 6 snowflakes):     1 cup white melting wafers 1 cup dark melting wafers 4-8 drops Peppermint Essential Oil. Click here if you just want to buy a bottle of Peppermint Essential oil. Click here to buy a Young Living Premium Starter Kit for a great price that includes Peppermint and a 24% discount on all your future YL Oil Orders. 2 candy canes or about 8 peppermints smashed (put it in a ziplock bag to control mess) 1 silicone snowflake mold (affiliate link) Step 1: Microwave the dark chocolate chips. I did mine in batches of 18 snowflakes. I microwaved 3 cups of Ghirardelli wafer chips on 50% power for 3 minutes, stirring each minute. You can melt these over a double boiler as well if you prefer. Step 2: Stir in 2-4 drops Young Living Peppermint essential oil into the dark chocolate. Pour into the mold about 1/4 inch thick. Be careful not to spill any of the chocolate onto the sides ...

Holiday Diffuser Blends | Essential Oils

December 3, 2014 by barb

peppermint surprise diffuser recipe

I've been super busy this week getting holiday crafts done. I can't wait to share some of the things I have been working on. These holiday diffuser blends have really been keeping me going over the last few days. Don't know what a diffuser is? Think part humidifier, air purifier, atomizer, and aromatherapy diffuser into one product about the size of a kleenex box (maybe a little bit bigger). You fill it with a small amount of water and some drops of essential oil. The diffuser's ultrasonic technology breaks any mixture of essential oils and water into millions of microparticles, disperses them into the air, and eliminates odors, create a relaxing atmosphere, and gives you the therapeutic benefit of the oils.....best image if you have no frame of reference for what I am describing? When your mom would put vapo rub in your humidifier as a kid :) Ah, good memories. Here is a great deal on the diffuser and oils if you are looking. Winter Chai: Holiday Diffuser Blend Relaxing. Like a cup of chai dispersed throughout the house. Peppermint Surprise: Holiday Diffuser Blend This one is my favorite. It smells like candy canes and gives me tons of energy to get through my ...

Best Wool Dryer Balls for Laundry (Simple, Reusable Alternative)

November 13, 2014 by barb

Wool dryer balls with essential oils are a great alternative to chemical filled dryer sheets.

Are you ready to ditch the dryer sheets? All you need is a set of wool dryer balls with essential oils. Wool dryer balls are 100% natural replacement for chemical filled dryer sheets. They work by bouncing around in the dryer, reducing static cling and literally softly "beating" your clothes. The balls shorten drying time by wicking moisture away from your clothes and they can last for years. Adding essential oils gently scents your clothes and adds one more way to get the therapeutic benefit of oils into your life. If you are trying to reduce the chemicals and toxins in your house this is one with a lot of bang for your buck since clothes, sheets and towels touch everyone in your family all day long.   There are two ways to get your wool dryer balls, buy them or make them. Many people even use an old wool sweater around the house to make the balls making this even more cost efficient. I have heard though from people that have made them that it just wasn't worth the time and effort when you can buy them so inexpensively. Where to Buy Wool Dryer Balls: How to Make Wool Dryer Balls: Wool Dryer Balls With Essential Oils It's easy to use essential oils ...

Easy DIY Lip Balm: Small Batch Peppermint Recipe

November 5, 2014 by barb

peppermint lip balm tubes

Searching for a quick and simple DIY stocking stuffer? Consider this easy peppermint lip balm recipe that can be completed in under an hour, perfect for making enough for an entire classroom! This recipe yields 14 full tubes, so you can easily adjust the quantity if you need to cater to a larger group. While it requires a few more ingredients than my lavender orange lip balm, it remains an affordable and straightforward craft. How to Make DIY Lip Balm: Gather the following supplies in your work area. This moves very quickly so you need everything at your fingertips. Melt 1/4 cup Coconut Oil and 2 TBSP plus 1 TSP of the beeswax pellets together over very low heat. Remove from heat. Stir in 15-20 drops of Peppermint depending on how strong you want it. Personally I think 18 is perfect. Poke a hole in the Vitamin E tablet and squeeze contents into mixture. Add 1/4 teaspoon honey or agave nectar. This can turn your mixture into a deeper amber color but it sets up well. Stir well-if you don't get the honey mixed in well you can create this odd amber pockets that turn into liquid quickly in the tube. Line up your tubes (or rubber band them together ...
